Earier this year a singer/songwriter named Nayeri Gregor aka Nayri filed a lawsuit against Chris Brown, Sony Music, and Benny Banassi claiming that they stole her music.

Gregor stated that she had a meeting with a man named Brain Kennedy where she brought a playlist of her work, which included the song " Dont Wake Me Up" . Gregor claims that Mr. Kennedy placed her cd in a computer telling her he was not downloading it. Gregor also claimed that Kennedy memorized her melodies from her song.

Gregory stated that Kennedy praised her music knowingly he would never contact her again. Gregory stated that she never heard from Kennedy again.

Gregor has stated that her song and Brown’s song share identical titles, similar lyrics, both begin with spoken words by a female voice and the hook lyrics are identical along with both songs have the same rhythmical figure and overall beat. She is suing Kennedy, Brown and Banassi demanding $150,000 for each infringement along with other damages for their alleged music theft.

On October 30th, Brown stated that he did not take Gregor song and use it for himself and that it was all lies. Brown does admit that the songs have the same title and use the lyric, “Don’t Wake Me Up.” Brown also explains that the title and the lyric cannot be copyrighted due to them being so common.
